Letts Suffolk Stud (Flock Book no 0111) is completely focused on the production of the highest quality lamb carcase genetics in the World. As suppliers of genetic material to "Pure Suffolk Lamb" we have a unique ability to see how our genetics perform as live animals , carcases as well as direct consumer feedback from the people who dine on "Pure Suffolk lamb".
The stud is based at Nairne in the Adelaide Hills and at present comprises of 180 mature ewes and up to 50 ewe lambs are joined each year.
In order to speed our genetic progress all our mature ewes are Artificially Inseminated to leading sires and in 2006 we have undertaken an extensive Embryo Transfer program with 30 ewes involved in this program and around 180 embryo's implanted
Letts Stud is heavily involved in cutting edge research with the University of Adelaide in the areas of intramuscular fat in lamb carcases and feeding lambs on different compounds to improve lamb performance in terms of feedlot gain and overall consumer acceptance
Letts stud has a long and distinguished history and we are the fourth custodians of the Letts gene pool and we pay tribute to the Greensalde family, John Spry and Mark and Di Swann for their dedication in Suffolk selection that has given us this opportunity to take Letts Suffolk Stud into the future.
